6-Day Lemosho Route
Description
Rongai is the only route that begins on Kilimanjaro’s northern slope. Though hikers rarely visit this part of the mountain, it is just as interesting as the popular southern and western slopes. We recommend Rongai to anyone looking for a secluded hiking experience.
Rongai is also the only route that passes by Mawenzi, one of Kilimanjaro’s three volcanic cones and Africa’s third highest peak. The return route passes through Marangu, allowing you to see both sides of the mountain.
Although six- and seven-day programs are available, for a better acclimatization transition, a longer program is recommended.
