7-Day Marangu Route
Description
Today, the Marangu, or “Coca-Cola” route, is the most popular on Kilimanjaro. It’s the only route where you’ll spend the night in a hut. Marangu is therefore a good choice for hiking during the rainy season.
The trail begins in the southeast corner of Mount Kilimanjaro. The route’s entrance, Marangu Gate, is conveniently located near our climbing base at Aishi Machame Hotel. It takes about 1.5 hours to get there.
This route includes a well-worn trail that passes through all climate zones, from tropical rainforest to eternal ice, as well as scenic African landscapes.
The route may be crowded in July-September and December-March due to its popularity and low cost.
For better acclimatization, the 6-day option is strongly recommended over the 5-day option.
